Mathieu Flamini says Chuba Akpom underlined his vast potential in their Barclays Asia Trophy opener.
The 19-year-old scored a hat-trick against a Singapore Select XI on Wednesday as the Gunners cruised into the final, where they will face Everton.
Flamini was impressed by Akpom’s performance and is confident the striker has what it takes to make the grade.
"He responded to every chance that he had and took his goals very well"
“He’s in a very good team and he took his opportunities well against Singapore,” the French midfielder said. “It’s just important for him to now keep his belief, work hard and show that he has the quality when he is given another opportunity.
“The boss gave him the chance against Singapore and he performed well. He responded to every chance that he had and took his goals very well.”
Arsenal face a tough test against Everton in Saturday’s final but Flamini believes that the Gunners are ready to face Roberto Martinez’s side.
“It will be a very tough game because it’s a Premier League opposition,” he said. “They are physical but we will prepare well to do everything we can to win the game.”
