Gatting on draw, positives and Crowley

Steve Gatting spoke after Arsenal Under-21s’ 2-2 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday. You can read a full transcript of his interview below:

on the draw…
I’m disappointed. We went two goals up and I’m disappointed we ended up drawing,” Gatting said after the game.

on the learning experience…
It’s a learning experience for the boys. We scored two minutes before half-time. If we came in at 2-0 it would have been a totally different second half. They got the goal and it gave them a lift. The nature of the goal they scored on half-time was poor. The boys need to learn how to manage the game better so we can come away with a better result.

on nicking the win at the end…
It could’ve gone either way at the end. We found it difficult in the second half to deal with the long ball and they got a lot of second balls from that. We found it hard to deal with their crosses, stopping them and then dealing with the actual cross itself. But in the meantime we created enough chances to score six or seven tonight.

on the positives…
I thought we played some really good attacking football. We didn’t finish the amount of chances created - we could’ve scored more goals.

on Dan Crowley’s free-kick…
Dan’s goal was a brilliant strike. He scored a similar goal at the Emirates against West Brom from a similar sort of distance. He’s got that in him. He practices those free-kicks regularly and tonight it came off for us.
