VIDEO: Chambers' first interview

Arsenal have signed young right back Calum Chambers and you can watch his first interview as a Gunner right here. Here is a transcript:

Calum, welcome to the club - how does it feel to be an Arsenal player?

Amazing! I just can’t wait to get started to be honest.

What appeals to you most about joining Arsenal?

The history of the club, the ambition and everything about it. The players are such quality here that i felt it was a really good opportunity to come here and push myself.

How much of a consideration was the fact that so many young players get an opportunity here as well?

Yeah, the manager has a fantastic history of bringing young players through and nurturing them - and especially from Southampton, as you have seen Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott! I would just like to have the opportunity to follow in their path and be as successful as them.

How much of an inspiration are Alex and Theo to you?

Massive. Even from a young age in the academy, everyone looked up to them and everyone wanted to do what they are doing.

How big a part was Arsene Wenger in your decision to join the club?

It was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. He is a fantastic manager and everyone can see that. To get the opportunity to work with him will be amazing.

What did you make of Arsenal last season and their FA Cup win?

They had a great season, I love the way that they play. At a young age at Southampton we got taught to play that way too. Seeing how Arsenal play, I thought it would be really nice for me to come and play with all the players here.

You played in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at St Mary’s last season. What are your memories of that?

Cold! It was a really good game, i thought we played really well in the first half but Arsenal have such quality players that they were always going to stay in the game. It was a tough game for both teams I think.

We have some outstanding young English players here. How exciting is it to be part of that group?

It is amazing, it is such an exciting experience for me to come here and play and train with the players at Arsenal. I want to push myself as hard as I can and get as high as I can.

You’re the second right-back signing of the summer after Mathieu Debuchy - what has the manager said to you about your role?

He said that he sees me at right back, centre back, holding centre midfield. He sees me in a variety of different positions, which i like, because then I can find out where I am best at and push myself as far as I can go in that position. I am just excited to get started really.

How excited are you about playing at Emirates Stadium - it could be this weekend at the Emirates Cup?

I hope so! It is an amazing stadium, i was on the bench there last season and it has a wow factor about it. You walk in and the pitch is immaculate, the stands are amazing so i can’t wait for the first game.

How confident are you that Arsenal can compete for the biggest prizes this season?

Very confident. It is a very, very strong squad of such talent so we have every chance of winning trophies and competing for the title this year.
