Monday’s win over Newcastle United was a monumental one in the race for Champions League football.
The victory saw us leapfrog Tottenham Hotspur into third position, two points clear of our north London rivals despite being 10 points behind them a little over a month ago.
There are now just seven Premier League games left and after Monday’s performance at Emirates Stadium, Mesut Ozil is confident we have the quality to finish the season on a high.
Our playmaker spoke to the media after the game and this is what he had to say.

We are very happy. Our aim tonight was to take the three points and we played very well. Congratulations to the whole team. We are very happy.
on how he’s overcome the early-season challenges to become a big influence…
My work is to give everything on the pitch, like today. I only want to help my team-mates to win the game. I think we played very well as a team, not just me. It was a team effort. As I said, congratulations. I think we are now third. It was a long time that we had to wait for a game, so now we can go and relax at home now.
on being above Tottenham…
Our aim is to get into the top four. Of course we’re happy that we’re in front of Tottenham. It’s always a big competition with them. If we play like today, we have a few more games in front of us and we want to win them. We want to take all the points to get into the top four at the end of the season.
