Mikel nominated for PL Manager of the Season

After guiding us to our highest league finish since 2015/16, Mikel Arteta is a contender for the Premier League’s Manager of the Season accolade.

The boss is included on a six-man shortlist having guided us back into the Champions League for the first time in seven seasons, and transforming us into the title contenders right from the early weeks of the campaign.

We are just one win shy of equalling our club record for most in a Premier League season, as we have won 25 of our 36 games so far, and have surpassed 80 points for the first time since 2007/08.

Mikel has been named Manager of the Month on four occasions during 2022/23, more than any other boss, and received the Manager of the Year award at the Football London Awards back in March.

He is up against his rival for the championship Pep Guardiola, as well as Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe who has transformed his team from relegation scrappers into top-four contenders.

The impression Roberto De Zerbi has made on Brighton & Hove Albion since his appointment in September is also recognised, while Unai Emery’s impact at Aston Villa following his arrival in October sees him nominated. Meanwhile, Marco Silva’s achievement in getting newly-promoted Fulham into the top half has also got him on the list.

Voting is now open, and will remain so until midday UK time on Monday, May 22, when supporters’ votes will be combined with that of a Premier League panel to decide the winner.
