‘To a man we left everything on the pitch’

Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey says that our victory over Manchester United on Sunday was hugely significant in the race for the top four.

The midfielder was playing against our rivals for the final time in an Arsenal shirt, and was delighted to sign off with a win that saw us go above the Red Devils in the Premier League table.

Here’s what he said after the game…

on the significance of the win…

We knew it was going to be difficult and they’re in a very good run of form at the moment, so we had to bring our A game today and we managed to do that. We deserved the result in the end and to a man we left everything out on the pitch.

on the fight for the top four…

Of course, it’s tight and we made up a few points on a few teams today. It was important for us because we knew how difficult this match would be and the significance of it, so we knew we needed a good performance and I’m just glad that we could produce that today.

on knowing it’s the last time he will face Manchester United in an Arsenal shirt…

I knew that before the game so I really wanted to go out there today and put in a big performance and help my teammates as much as possible. We managed to do that and it’s probably my last game against them in an Arsenal shirt, so I’m just glad we won and we’ve put ourselves in a great position to finish the season strongly and get into the top four.

on the key to success against United…

I think to a man we left everything out on the pitch and we worked our socks off. We created a few opportunities in the first half hour of the game and I thought we controlled the game very well. We know that we’re strong at home and we’re on a good run, so hopefully that can continue.

on what we need to do to secure a top four finish…

We know that no game is easy in the Premier League so we’re going to have to be at it every single time. We’ve got to keep going, keep believing and we’ll see where we finish at the end of the season.
