We have teamed up with the London FA to support the delivery of a new coaching session for girls from the age between 7 and 11 years old as well as an additional session for girls aged five and six years old.
The London Leopards programme, which aims to qualify 100 new female coaches and create new playing opportunities for 1,000 girls aged between 7 and 11 years old is taking place across London over the next four years.
We will be delivering free taster sessions to local schools and running a eight-week block of coaching sessions at Paddington Recreation Ground from the end of May, aiming to give girls a fun, positive and memorable first experience of football.
Each of the coaching sessions will aim to help girls have fun, make new friends and enjoy playing football, and will be run by our team of Arsenal Women coaches.
“This is a great opportunity for girls to start playing football on a regular basis in an environment that will help them feel confident to try football, perhaps for the first time.,” said Tom Hartley, Arsenal Women Development Officer.
“Providing opportunities for girls this young will support them in developing a healthy lifestyle and also help inspire them to fall in love with football.”
We are currently providing a number of taster sessions to primary schools in the London area, delivering a school assembly explaining what life is like as a professional footballer, and a fun coaching session for girls at the school.
The weekly session will run between 4.30pm and 5.30pm from Monday, May 21 to Monday, July 16 on the astroturf at Paddington Recreation Ground, Randolph Avenue, Maida Vale, London, W9 1PD, and costs £3 per session - £24 in total.
- Please note there are eight places for five and six year olds, 10 for seven and eight year olds, and 12 for nine, 10 and 11 year olds.
- We also politely ask that parents stay for the duration of the five and six year olds’ session due to the children’s age
