Loan Watch: Guendouzi scores for Hertha

Matteo Guendouzi was on target for Hertha Berlin in their 1-1 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday. Our French midfielder played the full match and scored early on in the second half to give his team the lead.

Breel Embolo hit back for Monchengladbach just 23 minutes later, but both sides were unable to find a winner. The result leaves Hertha Berlin 11th in the Bundesliga after 11 games. 

 

Konstantinos Mavropanos played 87 minutes for Stuttgart in their 5-1 win at Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. The impressive victory moved Stuttgart up to seventh in Germany's top flight.

 

Goals from Silas Wamangituka and Giovanni Reyna saw the sides go in at the break on level terms. Wamangituka then bagged a second after the restart to open the floodgates for Stuttgart as Philipp Forster, Tanguy Coulibaly and Nicolas Ivan Gonzalez all got in on the act.

 

James Olayinka scored the winner for Southend United against Scunthorpe this weekend. Our 20-year-old midfielder swept Jason Demetriou's low cross home from the edge of the box to take all three points at Roots Hall.

 

Matt Smith played the full game as Swindon Town fell to their third defeat in a row in League One. The Robins were beaten 1-0 by Fleetwood at County Ground after Patrick Madden put the visitors ahead inside of half an hour.

 

Three of our loanees were in action as Gillingham lost 2-1 to Doncaster in League One on Saturday.

 

Tyreece John-Jules played 80 minutes and provided the assist for the opening goal, setting up Reece James with a nice pass to give Doncaster the advantage after 29 minutes.

 

Kyle Dempsey then put Gillingham back on level terms after 51 minutes before Bradley Halliday hit the winner seconds later.

 

Zech Medley also featured in the game, he played 45 minutes for Gillingham before being substituted at half time for Alex MacDonald.

 

Trae Coyle returned to the bench for the fixture after starting last time out for Gillingham against Cambridge United. Our 19-year-old did come on though, he replaced Thomas O'Connor in the 66th minute.

 

Mark McGuinness was also in League One action this weekend, playing the full match as Ipswich Town lost 2-0 to Portsmouth. A first-half brace from Ryan Williams gave Pompy all three points at Portman Road.

 

Tolaji Bola played 71 minutes as Rochdale lost 4-1 away to Peterborough. Jonson Clarke-Harris opened the scoring after five minutes from the spot, before Stephen Humphrys levelled the game four minutes later.

 

Clarke-Harris then bagged two more in the space of 13 minutes to complete a stunning first-half hat-trick. Nathan Thompson rounded off proceedings with a fourth late on.

 

Ben Sheaf played the full match as Coventry beat Wycombe 2-1 in the Championship. Sheaf returned to the starting XI for the first time since November 28 to help guide his side to victory at Adams Park. Liam Kelly scored twice in the first half before Joe Jacobson converted from the spot to give Wycombe late hope.

 

Harry Clarke played the full match as Oldham Athletic beat Bradford 3-1 at home. Dylan Bahamboula, Carl Piergianni and Davis Keillor-Dunn put Oldham in a dominant position before Paudie O'Connor notched a late consolation.
