It was a baptism of fire for Stephan Lichtsteiner on Sunday as he came off the bench as we were trailing Manchester City - and had to fill in at left-back.
The Switzerland captain was disappointed with the defeat but feels there were positives to be taken from the game.
This is what he told the media:
on the second goal…
It’s not easy because I think it’s easier to score in front, so I came first inside and then he came in on the other side so it wasn’t so easy to defend.
on playing out from the back…
We’ve got to do it and we will work very hard to improve. We will work very hard to come back.
on Unai Emery…
We improved in the game. We’re Arsenal and we like to play football, even against Manchester City. It’s very difficult, but like I said, he’s had us working very hard.
on whether he’s optimistic for the season ahead…
Of course, we wanted to win! But we will look forward and work hard for next time.
