Leah - I’m intrigued to see how high I can go

Leah Williamson is focused on going all the way to the top.

The England international has made 179 appearances for the club to date, scoring 13 goals and becoming a true fan favourite - but she believes there’s still plenty more to come.

“Before the injury, I felt like I was playing some of the best football that I’ve ever played - especially in an Arsenal shirt,” Williamson told Arsenal Media. “I wanted to be a reliable person and I wanted to be a reliable team-mate and footballer, and I wanted the girls to look at me and know what they’re going to get and that it will be good enough

“I think I was hitting those sort of levels, but I’m never satisfied and there’s definitely some things that I was missing, which is why I’m so excited to get back playing against, just to see if I can tick those boxes. I’m as intrigued as anybody else is to see how high I can go. I made a good start at the start of the season, but there’s definitely more to come.

“I want to take this club back to the top. It’s a big task and everybody wants that in women’s football, it’s the goal for a lot of teams and it’s probably achievable for a lot of teams as well, but this club deserves to win silverware and like I say, I walk in the shadows of those that came before me and how successful they were and so effortlessly it seems, so now it’s time to relight the fire I suppose and hopefully I can help the club achieve some of that stuff while I’m still here.”
