Arsenal Ladies kept up the pressure on Everton at the top of the Women’s Premier League with an emphatic win over Fulham on Thursday night.
Vic Akers’ side made it 12 wins out of 12 this season thanks to a hat-trick from Kelly Smith, a brace from Kim Little and a goal apiece from Katie Chapman and Gemma Davison.
Chapman opened the scoring after nine minutes and, although Fulham battled to stay in the game, Little gave Arsenal some breathing space with her first of the night, 11 minutes before the break.
It was one-way traffic after the break as Smith scored twice in three minutes before the hour mark. Davison made it 5-0 after 65 minutes and Little scored the sixth 15 minutes from time before Smith completed her treble just before the end.
It was a comfortable night for the champions, who handed 16-year-old Lauren Bruton her debut.
Arsenal’s win leaves them six points clear of Everton, although the Merseysiders have also yet to drop a point and have two games in hand.
