Alex Lacazette made history on Saturday when he found the net in our 3-0 win at Fulham.
Our France striker is the only player to score the first goal in two different Premier League seasons - 2017/18 and 2020/21.
After the game, Laca discussed his future as well as the key moments in a satisfying victory:
on the performance...
Yes, it was the best way to start the season. We wanted to win today and get the clean sheet. Defensively I think we did some good stuff and respected what the coach wanted. At the end, we won so everyone is happy today.
on Mikel's comments throughout the game...
He wants us to be perfect. We work a lot in the week for this kind of game because we know it's really important for the season. Yeah, we have to respect what we wants.
on competition for places...
Yes, for the team, for the club. We have a lot of big ambition. We know Auba is going to score a lot of goals this season. I want to help the team to be on top, I know it's my job. It's not for me to [just] play and do the link-ups so I will try and do my best this season.
on if he is happy at Arsenal...
I am really happy. It's only the press that says I'm not happy. From the beginning I've said I am happy at Arsenal and I want to play and win titles. We won a title last month so I am happy with Arsenal.
on why Arsenal's away record has improved...
Yes, we want to be aggressive with the ball and without the ball. We just want to improve in every aspect of the game. This is why we work every day, every week, to be better.
on if Arsenal are now ready to challenge for the top four...
I don't know if we are ready, but we'll try to. Every day we work a lot to try and earn a place in the top four.
