Key dates and events you need to know this summer

Dates for your diary

With the sun setting on our 2023/24 campaign, attention now turns to another busy summer with the 2024/25 season less than three months away.

We’ve gathered some of the key dates for your diary that you’ll want to be aware of in the next few weeks and months.

Friday, May 24
Arsenal Women v A-League Women All-Stars

We're ending our women’s season with a friendly match at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. The exhibition match will see us travel to Australia as part of Global Football Week Melbourne.

It will give our supporters Down Under a fantastic opportunity to see our players in action, following on from the success of the Women’s World Cup in the country last year.

Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers begin

There are four matchdays to go in the qualifiers for the Women’s Euro 2025. These will take place on:

  • Friday, May 31
  • Tuesday, June 4
  • Friday, July 12
  • Tuesday, July 16

Premier League and EFL transfer window opens, Euro 2024 begins

This summer, clubs can recruit players between Friday, June 14 and Friday, August 30.

The opening of the Premier League and EFL transfer window is on the same day that UEFA Euro 2024 begins in Germany.

24 countries will compete for the 17th edition of the championship, with Germany hosting Scotland at 8pm (BST) on the opening night, when Kai Havertz will hope to be involved.

Also in line to potentially feature in the tournament are Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, Declan Rice, Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko, David Raya, Jorginho, Leandro Trossard, William Saliba.

Tuesday, June 18
Premier League 2024/25 fixtures announced

While in action in Germany, those players as well as the remainder of Mikel Arteta's squad will be keen to see what our fixture list looks like for the coming campaign.

Our schedule will be released at 9am (BST), but what we already know is that the season will consist of 33 weekends, four midweek rounds of matches and one bank holiday matchweek.

2024 Copa America begins

Copa America

This year’s Copa America takes place in the United States, with 16 teams from the Americas competing for the title.

Argentina are the current holders, having won the championship 15 times, and they will kick off proceedings against Canada on Thursday, June 20 in Atlanta.

Having been selected in Brazil's squad, Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli will be be hoping to taste success with Brazil.

Monday, June 24
WSL transfer window opens

WSL clubs can sign players this summer between Monday, June 24 and Friday, September 13.

Saturday, July 13
Boreham Wood v Arsenal XI

Meadow Park

An Arsenal XI will face Boreham Wood in a pre-season friendly at Mangata Pay UK Stadium.

Kick-off will be at 3pm and information on how supporters can attend the fixture will be published in due course.

Sunday, July 14
Euro 2024  and Copa America finals

Euro 2024 and the 2024 Copa America both come to an end on the same day, determining who will be crowned winners of the continental competitions.

The final of the Euros will be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin at 8pm (BST), while Copa America showpiece takes place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Wednesday, July 24
Football at the 2024 Summer Olympics begins

Taking place in France, the Olympics will once again see men’s and women’s tournaments take place from Wednesday, July 24 to Saturday, August 10.

Men’s teams are restricted to under-23 players with a maximum of three overage players allowed, while there are no age restrictions on women’s games.

Our 2024 USA Tour begins against Manchester United at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles to kick off our preparations for the 2024/25 season.

We faced each other on American soil last season, selling out the 80,000-capacity MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Wednesday, July 31
Arsenal v Liverpool

USA fans

Pre-season continues against Liverpool at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at the end of the month.

This will be the first time we’ll have played each other in the US, providing Mikel and the squad with a strong test as they continue to build up to the Premier League season.

Saturday, August 10
Football at the 2024 Summer Olympics ends

The women’s final of the 2024 Summer Olympics will be held at the Parc des Princes in Paris on Saturday, August 10, one day after the men’s final at the same venue.

Premier League 2024/25 season begins

Premier League flag

Starting 90 days after the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, we will attack next season’s campaign looking to go one further than our previous two second-place finishes.

Friday, August 30
Premier League transfer windows closes

As August heads to a conclusion, Premier League and EFL clubs will have to make sure that all of their transfer business is completed by 11pm (BST).

From then, clubs won’t be able to recruit players until the winter transfer window opens on New Year’s Day.

Friday, September 13
WSL transfer window closes

For WSL clubs, the window closes at 11pm for domestic deals, and midnight for international deals.

Saturday, September 21
WSL 2024/25 season begins

After back-to-back third-place finishes in the Women’s Super League, we’ll be aiming to close the gap on Manchester City and Chelsea next season.

The start of the new season comes 42 days after the women's gold medal final of the Olympic Games campaign.
