Interview

McCabe: "We want to win things our way"

Katie McCabe is here to stay in north London, having recommitted her future to the club with a new deal.

In her first interview after putting pen to paper, the Republic of Ireland captain was joined by fellow Ireland and Arsenal legend, Emma Byrne, to reflect on her eight years at the club and why it remains her home.

Byrne still holds our record for appearances with a staggering 459 and the tail-end of her career crossed over with McCabe's arrival in north London.

"It's exciting," said McCabe, looking ahead to the future. "It's crazy to think when I first came over and you picked me up from Luton Airport, that we'd actually be sat here now.

"Right at the start, when I was just a little kid in Dublin, you talked me into that Arsenal contract! And I'm still here."

McCabe is the seventh player from our women's squad to sign a new deal this summer, emphasising reinvigorated belief in the project.

"Given the fact that a lot of us are staying, we know our philosophy and how we want to play - the Arsenal way.

"Of course, we want to win things, but we want to do it our way as well, so that's gonna be really important for us coming into the season."
