Jorginho on what has sparked our change in fortune

After we recorded a sixth successive Premier League victory by beating Newcastle United 4-1, Jorginho suggested that the synergy between players, staff and supporters is the reason for our upturn in form since the start of 2024.

We have now thrashed West Ham United, Burnley and the Magpies in successive league outings off the back of a huge win against Liverpool, which have all come since our mid-season warm weather training camp in Dubai back in January.

And Jorgi feels that while hard work has helped, the tightness of the group is what pulled us through a difficult spell to suddenly transform our fortunes and help drive us to new heights.

Speaking post-match about what happened in Dubai, our midfielder laughed: “It's a secret - only joking! I think we just kept working hard because in the end, we were creating but we maybe weren't finishing the chances that we were creating.

“Then something clicked - the connection between the players, with the staff, with the fans - it's just an amazing feeling all together and then things turn your way. The atmosphere at the Emirates, and it's just a pleasure to be here. We go out there and we give our best. We work hard and then we are really enjoying this journey together.”

After returning to our line-up having been on the bench for the past three matches, Jorgi put in a man-of-the-match display against Newcastle, playing a key role in our second goal and being a huge influence in our control of proceedings throughout another dominant victory.

He graciously passed the praise onto his teammates though, saying he just enjoys seeing them strut their stuff when they’re full of confidence, as they are right now.

“All I do is try to make things easier for my team,” the Italian international said. “When I go out there and I can do that, I'm really happy because to see the team pushing and scoring goals and having fun, enjoying being together on the pitch with these fans, it's just incredible.

“I think you could see today, the team was really hungry, and we showed out there that we wanted to go hard and that's what we did. I’m very happy for the team, because we worked so hard, everyone, and I think we fully deserved it. We are all just very happy.”
