Jonas Eidevall was delighted with our 5-1 win at home to Watford in the Adobe Women's FA Cup on Sunday, as we produced a dominant display with five different goalscorers.
"I think overall it’s a strong performance," he said after the match. "We were good on the ball; I think we played some great attacking football. We controlled most of the game, I think that the only thing we could have done better was to score more goals sooner in the game so it could have felt a little bit easier, but all-in-all, it was strong."
Jonas handed a debut to new signing Emily Fox and was happy with what he saw from our full-back.
"Really strong performance, nice to see her settling in so quickly into the team," he said. "I think it was great that we could have her in Portugal to start to integrate her into the team, and it was great for her to get 90 minutes. It was a good experience for her to start to build relationships."
Another pivotal player was Victoria Pelova, who was influential in our second and third goals of the game.
"She’s a very creative player, and it’s one of those players that we want to be able to get higher up on the pitch and be an influence for us in the final third," Jonas elaborated. "We managed to do that with good positioning and passing play as well, so that’s nice to see."
Next up, we return to Barclays Women's Super League action against Everton at Meadow Park on Saturday, January 20.
"We’re in a good place, but we need to be mindful of a very strong Everton performance against Aston Villa, so it’ll be a full training week; we’re going to work hard together and going to do our very best to keep developing, keep progressing and hopefully be very strong on Saturday," Jonas said.
