Alex Iwobi's fine start to the season continued at Craven Cottage as we ran out 5-1 winners against Fulham on Sunday.
Afterwards, he spoke to the media about the performance, his own displays and the confidence in the squad.
- Auba - I knew I had to make an impact
- ‘Torreira is young… but he is doing very well’
- ‘Our mentality is to work and enjoy it together’
This is what he said:
on what he made of the performance...
It was a tough start. Fulham came out and started well, but then they conceded. The manager picked us up at half-time.
on what the foundation of this good form is...
The team spirit is better. The confidence is definitely better. We analyse the games a bit more and we're proving to the fans as well as ourselves that we're able to compete for the title.
on the first half and his work on the left-hand side...
The manager has given me a lot of confidence, telling me that when I get the ball to just be positive. Whenever I am called upon to play, I always try to give my best and make sure that I can impose myself on the game.
on which goal he thought was best...
Ooh, I don't know! There were a lot of team goals, but I think the third one, where Hector flicked it, then Aaron passed it. There was a lot of good team play, but it doesn't matter who scored it, it's basically a team goal to me.
on there being a lot of confidence and smiles among the team and whether the result sends out a message...
Yes, of course. We're not afraid to play anyone. We're playing without fear, we want to be consistent and keep it going.
on being one point off top spot and if we can challenge for the title...
Well of course! But there's a long way to go. It's a marathon, so we just have to carry on being consistent.
