‘It’s a huge privilege to be part of this group’

Lisa Evans couldn’t be happier than she is right now.

The winger has established herself as a key figure for club and country, helping us go into the Christmas break top of the Women’s Super League and playing a key part in Scotland’s qualification for the 2019 World Cup.

Evans has been in fine form for us this season with two goals and five assists already, and was rewarded for her performances with a new contract on Tuesday.

“I think the club’s definitely going in the right direction in terms of where we want to be,” she told Arsenal Player.

“We obviously want to be back in the Champions League and I feel like this club, this group of players, the staff, we can go to so many more different levels. That was the biggest thing for why I wanted to stay at this amazing club.

“We obviously have a small group of players and we can just bounce off each other. We’re really honest with each other and Joe’s an absolutely fantastic coach.

“The players that he’s brought in have been massive additions for this club, so we just love coming to work every day. We don’t regard it as work, it’s a privilege to be here, to train and be around the players and coaching staff every day.

“It would be an absolute honour and a massive privilege to bring the Women’s Super League title back to north London. It is a massive privilege to be part of this group. It would be a massive honour to bring trophies back.”
