Another five members of our first team squad were involved in World Cup qualifiers on Sunday evening.
Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette were in pursuit of a crucial three points against Austria as they bid to qualify for next summer's tournament with France, Granit Xhaka and Sead Kolasinac were also in action for Switzerland and Bosnia Herzegovina respectively.

France 0-0 Luxembourg
Sunday, September 3
Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny started France’s World Cup qualifying draw against Luxembourg, while Alexandre Lacazette came on as a second-half substitute. Lacazette replaced Giroud after our No 12 had gone close to breaking the deadlock in the first half, but Luxembourg withstood 34 French shots to pull off a shock result in Toulouse.
Granit Xhaka
Latvia 0-3 Switzerland

Granit Xhaka played 77 minutes of Switzerland’s World Cup qualifying win over Latvia. The midfielder lined up alongside Blerim Dzemaili and his country took the lead after just nine minutes, when Andris Vanins palmed Haris Seferovic’s shot into his own net. Montreal Impact’s Dzemaili then rounded Vanins to double Switzerland’s advantage, before Ricardo Rodriguez completed the scoring from the penalty spot.
Sead Kolasinac
Gibraltar 0-4 Bosnia Herzegovina
Sunday, September 3
Sead Kolasinac played the entirety of Bosnia’s World Cup qualifying win over Gibraltar. Edin Dzeko gave the visitors the lead just before half-time, with Kenan slotting home 20 minutes after the restart. Senad Lulic then struck before Dzeko fired home his second to complete the rout.
