Vivianne Miedema only had one clear-cut opportunity in the FA WSL Continental Cup final, but that’s all she needed.
The Netherlands striker brought down Dominique Janssen’s cross before firing home at the far post to help us see off Manchester City at Adams Park and lift her first trophy since joining us last summer.
“It feels really good,” she said. “We played an amazing game because Manchester City are such a good team. I think we did a really good job.
“I knew I wouldn’t have that many chances in this game because Manchester City are so organised, so it was just about making sure that the first one went in.
“It really is a huge achievement. We’ve got a load of respect for them because they’re an amazing team. I’m really happy we managed to beat them today.
“We had a rough start but we’ve been doing well over the last few weeks,” she added. We’re just hoping we can keep going and you never know what will happen at the end of the season.”
