'I didn't want it to end... but it was a goodbye'

Not many players get to end their stay at a club by lifting a trophy, but Bacary Sagna is one of the lucky ones.

The former France international played 284 times in our colours, finishing with a dramatic victory at Wembley in our comeback 2014 Emirates FA Cup final win over Hull.

"I call it a special day because I knew I was leaving as well," Sagna told our 'In Lockdown' podcast. "It was a very emotional day for me personally, and for the team also because we in mind the 2011 League Cup final against Birmingham and we couldn't fail anymore.

"It was the right time for us to win trophies. I knew personally it was my last chance to win a trophy with my team. Thank god we did! Until today, I keep watching the replay. I do! It was a crazy game.

"The scenario of the game was mental. When I sit there and watch the game, the way I feel after 10 minutes was terrible. I had tears coming. I was thinking, 'No matter what and how much it will take, we will win that game.'

"I didn't want to leave that way, I didn't want to leave with a defeat. I didn't want to leave losing. I didn't want that image for my life.

"We managed to come back to 2-2, a big atmosphere and the fans were pushing us a lot. I can still see the image of their faces, I can see everything. I can still see everything when we were 2-0 down.

"They were down and Hull fans were singing a lot. The fans kept singing and it helped us a lot on the pitch.

"It was something special. That was my dream, to win something with my team. I did but I was sad at the same time. Now you're taking my emotions out!

"I was sad at the same time because I knew it was my last game. It was a nice feeling of course because winning is special, but I was sad at the same time.

"I didn't want that moment to end. I wanted that moment to last but it was kind of a goodbye."
