Our Under-21s lost 5-2 to Reading's first team in the final group game of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy on Tuesday night.
Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson were both involved in our U21s squad as we finished second in Group O to qualify for the knockout stages.
It was Vieira who scored our first goal of the game from the spot after Reading had gone 2-0 up courtesy of Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and Caylan Vickers. Ehibhatiomhan then scored his second as the home side took a 3-1 lead into half-time.
We stayed in the game though as a solo run from Nelson created an easy goal for Khayon Edwards, but Reading then put the result beyond doubt, Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith both scoring in the second half.
In an eventful second half, Ovie Ejeheri saved a penalty from Ehibhatiomhan, who was looking to complete his hat-trick, and Joel Pereira denied Vieira a second goal from the spot at the other end. We finished the game with ten men following Ayden Heaven's red card.
