Speaking after the first leg against Bayern Munich in the Women’s Champions League, Caitlin Foord gave her assessment of the close-run game.
“I think especially in the second-half we really dominated and we created a lot of chances,“ said Foord pitchside. “It would have been nice to put one away - if not two - to get the result and take a bit more pressure off us going into next week.
“But that’s the way it ends and we’ve just got to continue how we finished that game.”
Our Aussie winger was instrumental in our dominant second half performance, and proved a constant threat down the left wing.
“We just kept putting the pressure on and we kept having shots. If it was deflected, we picked the ball up again and it was just kind of one after another. You could definitely feel a goal coming and it was just unfortunate that one of them didn’t go in.”
Coupled with the near misses, there was some frustration from our Gunners as a number of vital refereeing decisions did not go our way.
“I almost lost my head at one point with some of the decisions! But that’s the way it goes sometimes and hopefully next week, it’s just better.
“We won’t really let it get to that, we’ll put our chances away. I’m really looking forward to the game next week.”
