Eidevall: "It was the start we wanted"

After hitting six past Rangers in our opening Champions League qualifier, Jonas Eidevall was delighted by the standard of football on show.

Speaking post-match, our head coach gave his assessment on the performance, Caitlin Foord's four goals and how well Mariona has settled into the squad.

Here is everything he had to say:

on the result...

A very good team performance. A good result as well. We really got off to the start we wanted in the Champions League. Of course, we're delighted to be playing in the final on Saturday night.

on his favourite of Caitlin Foord's four goals...

JE: A first goal is always nice because it gets us off to a great start. But her third goal and our fourth goal of the game - what a technical execution that is. A stunning volley and really nice football goal.

on our continued hunger for goals throughout...

It's really important. We’re in a period, we’re building. We’re building relationships, we’re building performances and moments change in football games. And if you care really deeply about the result of the football game, you don’t allow yourself to drop your standards or drop your levels. And you could see today that was a team that really cared about the outcome of that football game because they did everything with every moment on the pitch. That’s very pleasing.

on how quickly Mariona has settled into the squad...

She’s a qualitative player. And of course, in offence, she offers so much but also the defensive work rate she has, how she connects the team. I think it’s remarkable how well she has established relationships with the players around her already. Of course, we knew that - that’s why we wanted to sign her. We thought she was going to be a really good fit in the way we play.

on whether we'll take this confidence into Saturday's match...

We will but so will Rosenberg. They will be delighted with their result against Atletico Madrid. It's going to be two confident teams going into to this final. And now we need to recover, then we need to prepare, and then we need to bring absolutely 100% on Saturday. We need every single one of our supporters here. Our supporters were great tonight, they were the 12th player and we need to create that again on Saturday. And if we do that, then we're going to progress in the Champions League.
