Eidevall on "frustrating" West Ham defeat

We suffered a frustrating 2-1 defeat in the Barclays Women's Super League against West Ham United on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Jonas Eidevall discussed our performance, our slow start to the second half and what was missing in the final third.

Read on for a full transcript:

On our performance...
That we played and came out very slow at the start of the second half and and it was a very frustrating lesson with us being very harshly punished for those two moments in the game and conceding two goals which makes the second half very difficult for us. Apart from that, I think we were playing an okay game. Not great, but not bad either. I think in the first half we controlled, we created chances, enough to to be leading that game. And when we are wanting to chase the game in the second half, we also create chances, we create opportunities enough to be able to put the second goal away and to create that momentum getting the first goal, but we're not qualitative enough today.

On why we made a slow start to the second half...
The wind obviously plays a role in changing the dynamics a bit. And then you can see West Ham is much more aggressive in their pressing, which doesn't come as a surprise to us, but we're slow in adapting in the second half. We're playing a little bit on the backfoot there and we need to look at that obviously when it comes up again.
We certainly had our chances today as well.

On what was missing in the final third...
I think we're back a little bit to some of the sins earlier in the season where on the chances we get we don't get the shots on targets. We get a lot of blocked shots in the penalty area, which means potentially, we need one more pass or sometimes we need to finish a little bit earlier. And that is small margins between the difference between scoring goals and not that are so crucial.

On the need for a big response this week...
We need to focus on the future and what we can control but it was frustrating today, no lies about that. We need to learn from those lessons as well and we need to become stronger.
