Arsenal Diary: What’s in store this week

There are two big games ahead of us in the UEFA Champions League and Premier League this week.

Including academy action, here’s what to expect on Arsenal.com over the next seven days.

MONDAY

TUESDAY

Gold Cup preview

With our women’s team not playing until a north London derby at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, March 3, we’ll be looking ahead to the Gold Cup and the Gunners who have been called up to represent their nations, including Emily Fox (US) as well as Cloe Lacasse and Sabrina D’Angelo (Canada).

Mikel Arteta’s pre-Porto press conference will be held on Tuesday night and we’ll be bringing you all of the key lines from it right here on Arsenal.com and the the official app.

WEDNESDAY

8pm - FC Porto v Arsenal

The UEFA Champions League knockout stages begin for us at Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night. We’ll be looking for a positive result to take an advantage into the second leg at home, which will take place on Tuesday, March 12.

Porto are flying high in Primeira Liga, third in the division with 48 points, seven points behind leaders Benfica. In Europe, they finished joint top of Group H with Barcelona to qualify for the knockout phase.

FRIDAY

Returning to Sobha Realty Training Centre, Mikel will be back in front of the media of this pre-Newcastle United press conference and we will once again be providing live coverage of the event.

SATURDAY

12pm - Arsenal U18s v Brighton & Hove Albion

Our under-18s will look to close the gap to the top of the U18 Premier League South when they host Brighton & Hove Albion at Sobha Realty Training Centre on Saturday.

We’re fourth in the division, six points behind leaders West Ham United, while Brighton are ninth.

There will be a match report published on Arsenal.com and the official app after the final whistle, alongside post-match reaction from Jack Wilshere and one of his young Gunners.

8pm - Arsenal v Newcastle United

Attention turns back to the Premier League title race as Newcastle United are the next test at Emirates Stadium.

Eddie Howe’s side are eighth in the topflight following a 2-2 draw at home to AFC Bournemouth on the weekend, and this will be our game in hand over Liverpool, who host Luton Town on Wednesday ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final. Manchester City will also play twice in the league before our game.
