Sixteen lucky Community participants from our Football Plus programme were invited to an exclusive training session at London Colney to take part in a number of drills and activities planned by ten Arsenal Under-18 Academy players.
The activation was to support the academy players as they undertake part of their UEFA C coaching qualification – delivered by the PFA and includes Safeguarding and First Aid workshops in addition to the planning and delivery of coaching sessions.
It was a fantastic day all round, with a number of competitive matches taking place. The Academy players got stuck in and enjoyed putting their tactics to the test.
Under-18s goalkeeper Alex Kovacevic said, “It was really enjoyable – the boys trained really well and took in the information that we gave them.
“They showed that they understood all the aspects of being a footballer and being a great team-mate in terms of communication and competitiveness.”
Matt Henly, Head of Education at the Academy, said, "It was great to have the Under-13s from Arsenal Plus with us at Colney for the final assessment of our Under-18’s UEFA C coaching qualification. They were a credit to their coaches, and it certainly looked like they enjoyed the session.”
