William Gilmer joined Woolwich Arsenal from the Royal Ordnance factory in December 1895 and played three consecutive league games during four months at the Club.
The goalkeeper made his debut in a 5-0 victory against Loughborough but lost his place to William Fairclough following heavy defeats against Liverpool and Newcastle.
