Stuart Taylor

Stuart Taylor had promise in abundance as he rose through the youth ranks, but sadly his Arsenal career never took off.

Tipped as the natural successor to David Seaman's crown, a life in Arsene Wenger's first team never quite materialised for the former England Under-21 international.

Just 30 appearances in eight years tells its own story. Behind the likes of David Seaman, Jens Lehmann and then Manuel Almunia, Taylor's first-team opportunities were severely restricted - and injuries did not help.

That said, he did not leave Highbury without silverware to his name. His 10 Premier League appearances in the 2001/02 season entitled him to a league winners' medal.

But loan spells at Bristol Rovers, Crystal Palace, Peterborough and Leicester followed before Taylor was eventually transferred to Aston Villa on a permanent deal in June 2005.

From there he enjoyed a further loan spell at Cardiff City before moving to Manchester City on a free transfer in June 2009.
