Walford became part of a select club to swap white for red when Terry Neill signed the 19-year-old from north London rivals Tottenham for £25,000 in 1977.
If the young defender had struggled to make it at White Hart Lane, his playing time at Highbury was an altogether more enjoyable experience.
Walford amassed 98 appearances for the Club in his four years under Neill, featuring as a late substitute in the team's 1979 FA Cup Final success over Manchester United along the way.
The centre back was a regular in Arsenal's backline in the early 1980s, before Norwich eventually acquired his services for £125,000 in March 1981.
Walford became a coach after retirement, linking up with Martin O'Neill at Wycombe Wanderers, Norwich, Leicester, Celtic, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
