Talented young winger Rui Fonte showed promise during his spell at Arsenal before moving on to further his career.
The Portuguese youngster joined the youth ranks at London Colney from Sporting CP in 2006 before becoming a regular in Neil Banfield's reserves.
Despite impressing for the second string he only played once for the first team, replacing Carlos Vela as a late substitute in Arsenal's 3-0 Carling Cup win over Wigan in November 2008.
The Portugal youth international gained vital first-team experience on loan at Crystal Palace later that season and played 10 times.
The forward was released at the end of his contract in summer 2009 and re-joined Sporting before loan spells with Vitoria Setubal and Espanyol. He made the move to Espanyol permanent in 2011.
Fonte is the younger brother of José, who won promotion to the Premier League with Southampton in 2011/12 after a spell with Crystal Palace.
