Ray Hankin made two substitute appearances in his three months at Arsenal.
The burly centre forward initially joined as a non-contract player on a one-month trial from NASL side Vancouver Whitecaps in November 1981.
Hankin had previously had spells in England with Burnley and Leeds United but endured a difficult time at Highbury.
He appeared twice off the bench against Liverpool in the Milk Cup fourth round (which went to a replay) but returned to Vancouver shortly afterwards.
Hankin went on to play for Shamrock Rovers, Middlesbrough, Peterborough United and Wolverhampton Wanderers before managing Northallerton Town and Darlington.
