Ralph Birkett was at Arsenal during one of, and arguably the, most successful periods in the Club's history.
He signed in April 1933 and left two years later. In that time the Gunners won two League titles and were well on their way to a third in succession when he moved to Middlesbrough.
The right winger arrived for a fee of £1,250 from Torquay United and scored 11 times in 23 appearances for the Club.
His first goals came against Middlesbrough in September 1933, on his second start for Herbert Chapman's side. However, competition for a first-team place was stiff. Hulme and Beasley also wore the No 7 shirt that season but none of the trio was able to keep the jersey for more than five consecutive games.
Birkett found chances even more limited in the following campaign and he moved north for £2,000 in 1935.
