Oleg Luzhny was a reliable performer during his four years at Highbury.
The defender joined from Dynamo Kiev in summer 1999 after a distinguished career in his home nation and made his league debut as a substitute in a 2-1 win over Derby in August of that year.
Despite acting as understudy to Lee Dixon, the Ukraine international managed 31 appearances in his debut campaign, including four appearances in the UEFA Cup as Arsenal lost out to Galatasaray in the final (although he did not play in that game).
Despite plying his trade predominantly as a right back, Luzhny was also capable of filling in at the heart of defence.
He was part of Arsenal's Double-winning squad of 2001/02, picking up Premier League and FA Cup winners' medals. The defender's last appearance for the Club - Arsenal's 2003 FA Cup success over Southampton - was among his best.
After 110 appearances, Luzhny left to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2003 before beginning his managerial career as player-manager at Venta in Latvia.
He later took up a coaching role at former club Dynamo Kiev and was appointed as manager of Tavriya Simferopol in the summer of 2012.
