Lee Canoville has carved out a solid career for himself in the lower echelons of English football after failing to make his name at Arsenal.
The defender joined the Gunners as an apprentice in the summer of 1997 and turned professional three years later. He was a regular for the Club's second string and youth sides and waited patiently for his first-team chance.
It came in the League Cup when Canoville came off the bench during a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich on November 1, 2000. But with too many top-class players ahead of him, Canoville went on loan to Northampton to gain experience.
He returned to Arsenal but left the Club for good in the summer of 2001 and joined Torquay United, earning a two-year contract after impressing on his debut against Darlington.
Canoville helped Torquay win promotion in 2003/04 but was released when they went back down a year later. He moved on to Boston United, winning their Player of the Year award in their first season.
