John Robson

John Robson joined Arsenal from Innerleithen for £5 in November 1921.

The goalkeeper had served with the 6th Seaforth Highlanders in France during the First World War.

Robson, despite being just 5ft 8in, played 101 times in just under five years in north London after making his debut against Bolton on Boxing Day 1922.

He was forced to wait for a prolonged run in the first team but took his chance in the 1924/25 season and played 26 times.

But his spell in the first team was short-lived as Herbert Chapman relied upon Bill Harper and Dan Lewis between the posts the following season.

He transferred to Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic in August 1926.
