John Chalmers joined Arsenal with the Club struggling in the First Division.
The team had made a poor start to the 1910/11 season, scoring just two goals in their opening seven matches prior to the centre forward's arrival.
Chalmers joined from Clyde in October 1910 and made a quick impact after making his league debut against Bradford two days later.
He scored 15 league goals as Arsenal finished a respectable 10th and added one more in the FA Cup to make him top goalscorer for the season.
But Chalmers lost his place the following season and transferred to Greenock Morton for £500 in February 1912.
