James Ramsay

James Ramsay joined Arsenal from Kilmarnock in February 1924 for £1,775.

The inside forward became a regular under Leslie Knighton and then Herbert Chapman upon the legendary manager's arrival in 1925.

Ramsay scored 11 times in 75 starts after making his debut in a 3-1 win over Liverpool in March 1924.

The attack-minded Ramsay had served an apprenticeship in engineering before joining the 6th Seaforth Highlanders in 1917 and serving in France during the war.

He left Arsenal to return to Kilmarnock in December 1926, later had a spell as manager of Margate FC and retired in January 1936.
