Scottish born outside right James Maxwell made just two appearances for Arsenal after joining in May 1908 from Sheffield Wednesday.
He made his league debut four months later against Everton, but then had to wait until March 1909 for his next, and final, appearance against Sunderland.
Maxwell moved back to Scotland that summer to play for Galston.
