James Buchan

James Buchan's Woolwich Arsenal debut was also the Club's first-ever match in the First Division.

Buchan joined from Hibernian in April 1904 having won the Scottish Cup and league title with the Edinburgh-based club.

He started as the Gunners lost 3-0 to Newcastle on the opening day of the 1904/05 season but lost his place in early October.

A fringe player from then on, Buchan played eight times over the campaign before transferring to First Division rivals Manchester City in March 1905.

He later played for Motherwell.
