James Bellamy was a Londoner who played on the right wing for Arsenal.
Born in Bethnal Green, he joined Arsenal from Reading in May 1903 and faced Tottenham in his first London League fixture for the Reserves.
Bellamy had to wait until the last game of the 1904/05 campaign to make his senior debut, contributing to a 2-1 win over Everton.
He must have made a good impression - Bellamy was a regular at the start of the following season, playing 15 of the first 17 fixtures and scoring against Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
The arrival of William Garbutt forced Bellamy back to the fringes of the first team in December and it was a similar story in 1906/07 - he started the campaign on the right flank but was replaced when Garbutt recovered from injury.
Bellamy played his final first-team game for Arsenal against Blackburn in March 1907 and was then transferred to Portsmouth.
He ended up criss-crossing the UK, playing for Norwich, Dundee, Motherwell, Burnley, Fulham, Southend and Ebbw Vale before ending his career closer to home at Barking.
