Jack Lambert's goals helped fire Arsenal to their first ever League Championship.
He scored 38 goals in 34 starts during the 1930/31 season, top scoring as Herbert Chapman's side won their first title.
Lambert signed from Doncaster in the summer of 1926 for £2,000 but only found the net once in 16 starts in his first season with the Club. He started the same number of League games the following term, this time scoring on three occasions.
He became a regular for the second-string in the Football Combination and emerged as a successful striker for the first team towards the end of the 1929/30 season, concluding the campaign with 18 goals in 20 League appearances.
Arsenal finished 14th in Division One in 1930. In 1931 they won it and Lambert, along with the more celebrated Cliff Bastin and David Jack, was at the heart of the success.
He outscored each of the aforementioned stars despite making fewer appearances. And Lambert was again the Club's top goalscorer the following season, finishing with a tally of 22.
But that summer Chapman bought Ernie Coleman from Grimsby for £7,500 and Lambert was pushed out of the side. However, he still managed 14 goals in 12 appearances when Coleman did not play.
Lambert stayed one more full season, but in October 1933 he moved to Fulham for £2,500.
