Ian Ure arrived at Arsenal with European pedigree.
Dundee had won its first and only Scottish First Division title in 1961/62, before reaching the semi-finals of the European Cup a year later where they bowed out to eventual champions AC Milan.
Billy Wright moved quickly to bring the defender south of the border in August 1963, with Ure missing only one match in his first season at Highbury.
But injuries troubled the centre back, with a knee operation and a twice-broken jaw restricting his appearances in north London.
Ure picked up League Cup runners-up medals in both 1967/68 and 1968/69, and won three full caps for Scotland during his Arsenal career.
After 202 appearances for the Club he eventually left to join Manchester United in 1969, before heading back to Scotland with St. Mirren two years later.
After retirement, Ure managed East Stirling in 1974 before becoming a social worker in Kilmarnock and Glasgow.
