Horace Cope

Horace Cope spent six years at Arsenal after joining from Notts County for £3,125 in December 1926.

The left back was a regular in his first two-and-a-half seasons at Highbury and made the majority of his 76 starts during that period.

Cope, a miner by trade, missed Arsenal's 1927 FA Cup final defeat to Cardiff through injury after playing most of the season.

He earned international recognition at previous club Notts County, where he also won club honours.

But the defender fell out of favour under Herbert Chapman in the 1929/30 season and played just seven matches in his final four seasons at the Club as the team won three league titles and an FA Cup.

With first-team opportunities scarce, Cope joined Bristol Rovers for £1,500 in July 1933.
