FA Cup winner Frank Bradshaw joined Woolwich Arsenal from Everton in May 1914.
The inside left, who also operated at full back, arrived with strong pedigree in English football having achieved club honours at Sheffield Wednesday and success with both Northampton Town and Everton.
Bradshaw also had an England cap to his name, having scored a hat-trick against Austria in an 11-1 win in June 1908.
The goalscoring forward made his Arsenal debut in a 3-0 win over Glossop on the opening day of the 1914/15 campaign, scoring the Gunners' third goal of the game. He netted 10 times in 29 appearances in his debut season.
The outbreak of the First World War did not hamper Bradshaw's progress as he continued to star during wartime, playing 129 matches.
Upon resumption of the Football League, he was an ever-present with Arsenal now in the First Division.
Bradshaw continued as a mainstay in Leslie Knighton's first-team squad until his retirement in May 1923 after nine years at Highbury.
