Before turning to football, Billy McCullough was a grocer’s assistant.
Having started his career in Northern Ireland, McCullough crossed the Irish Sea to join Arsenal from Portadown for £5,000 in 1958.
During his eight years in north London, McCullough made 268 appearances and scored five goals.
He earned nine Northern Ireland caps while at Arsenal but left in 1966 after Bertie Mee became manager.
McCullough moved across London to join Millwall before returning to Northern Ireland.
