Arturo Lupoli

Arturo Lupoli was unable to take his prolific goalscoring at reserve level into Arsenal's first team.

The Italian striker joined the academy in 2003 after a sensational season in Parma's Under-17s, where he scored 45 goals in just 22 games.

Lupoli worked his way through the ranks at London Colney before being handed his first-team debut in the League Cup against Manchester City.

He hit a brace in the following round against Everton and made two more appearances in the 2004/05 season in cup competitions.

The striker played five times the following campaign, scoring one goal against Reading en route to a Premier League debut against Blackburn.

But Lupoli did not appear again. He enjoyed a full season on loan at Derby County in 2006/07 and joined Fiorentina on a permanent deal the following summer.

His career took a downward turn after that and the striker failed to make his debut for the Viola in between loan spells with Treviso, Norwich and Sheffield United. He joined Serie B side Ascoli in 2009 and Grosseto two years later.
