Promising goalkeeper Arthur made huge strides and gained valuable experience during two highly productive loan spells last season – and even ended the campaign with the first silverware of his senior career. He began the 2022/23 campaign at League Two side Crewe Alexandra and immediately established himself as their first-choice keeper in the absence of injured No. 1 Dave Richards, making 26 appearances and keeping ten clean sheets in all competitions, before switching to Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz in January. He made an instant impact there, too, saving a crucial penalty in a shootout against league leaders RB Salzburg to send his team into the semi-finals of the Austrian Cup – a competition they went on to win with a 2-0 victory over Rapid Vienna, before finishing as runners-up in the league.

London-born Arthur, whose younger brother Brian is also a goalkeeper at the Arsenal Academy, entered our youth system at the age of eight and progressed rapidly ahead of his age groups, making his debut for the Under-18s at the age of 15 and appearing for the Under-23s as a 17-year-old. The physically imposing, athletic stopper has been capped by England at under-18 level, but is also eligible to represent Nigeria.
