Archie Clark struggled for first-team opportunities at Arsenal after joining from Brentford for £700 in May 1927.
The half back played once in the league in his short spell at Highbury, making his only appearance in a 4-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in November 1927.
Clark was more prominent in the Football Combination where he played 56 times, sometimes even as a centre forward.
He transferred to Luton Town for £600 in November 1928 and later played for Everton and Tranmere before taking the managerial reins at Gillingham in 1939, where he spent 19 years.
