WHAT HAPPENED
Our under-18s kicked off their 2020/21 season on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Southampton.
Prior to this, Ken Gillard’s side hadn’t played a competitive fixture since early March - but there were no signs of rust as they delivered a complete team performance from start to finish.
Latching on to a through ball from Kido Taylor-Hart, Luke Plange opened the scoring with an impressive finish from a tight angle, before Ryan Finnigan inadvertently headed the ball into his own goal from a set-piece.
We were all over the Saints and Marcelo Flores made it three before the break, racing on to Omari Hutchinson’s through ball and rifling into the far corner.
Goran Babic and Jayden Smith pulled two back for the visitors late on, but with one last counter attack, Khayon Edwards fired home from close range and guaranteed all three points.
